POWER UP made it possible for households in energy poverty to benefit from local renewable energy production and energy efficiency measures, without having to bear the necessary upfront investment costs. The project sought to energetically empower citizens, involving them in the design of a new energy model for the city and fostering the deployment of collaborative business models.

València Clima i Energia sought to multiply the number of prosumers in the city—through participatory processes and support from the Energy Office (l’Oficina de l’Energia)—by encouraging participation in Local Energy Communities and other collective self-production models. Particular emphasis was placed on fostering the inclusion of people in situations of energy vulnerability, in order to uphold their right to fair, renewable and local energy.
