PROSPECT+ is a capacity-building initiative under the Horizon 2020 programme, designed for cities and regions, with the aim of equipping regional and local authorities to finance and implement sustainable energy plans efficiently and effectively.

At the heart of PROSPECT+ lies its Capacity Building Programme (CBP), which focuses on introducing innovative financial approaches for energy and climate-related actions. By ‘innovative’, we mean approaches that go beyond conventional grant-based funding and traditional bank loans.

In this context, two working groups have been set up:

1. València Sostenible, alongside representatives from Palma City Council, is participating as a recipient of lessons learnt from energy efficiency projects in which innovative financing mechanisms, such as Energy Performance Contracts, have been used. The city of Valladolid is participating as a mentor in this group.
2. An exchange of experiences on projects detailing the application of Energy Performance Contracts in various European organisations and municipalities, led by the Upper Austria Regional Energy Agency.
