DISTENDER was a European project aimed at improving climate change decision-making by coherently integrating mitigation and adaptation. Through collaboration between scientists, public administrations, businesses and citizens, the project developed and tested innovative approaches across several case studies at the European level and in replicable experiences.

One of its main outcomes was the creation of a Decision Support System to help public decision-makers assess climate options based on scientific evidence and local knowledge. DISTENDER thus contributed to a methodological framework combining top-down and bottom-up approaches, enabling the analysis of climate interactions across sectors and scales to design more effective and coherent policies.
