EnerCmed
EnerCmed aims to develop and test an innovative combined solution integrating a Renewable Energy Community, nature-based solutions and energy poverty mitigation, as part of efforts to promote climate-resilient Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), with a particular focus on residential areas near port infrastructure, which are typically marginalised and run-down.
València Clima i Energia is managing the pilot scheme in the city of Valencia, with the following key actions:
- Developing and testing a Renewable Energy Community and NBS pilot in the Nazaret or Poblats Marítims neighbourhood.
- Investing in distributed renewable energy generation infrastructure, dedicated entirely to mitigating energy vulnerability, as well as in small-scale nature-based solutions to combat the urban heat island effect.
- Testing and evaluating the model, as well as its potential integration into local, regional and European strategies and/or action plans on climate neutrality and a just energy transition.
